The Story Behind Hidden Oak Publishing
R. David Dickinson
Founder
Sometimes life's greatest purpose reveals itself when our plans are unexpectedly interrupted.
When the COVID-19 pandemic closed gyms, David Dickinson replaced workouts with daily walks in nature. Surrounded by towering trees, quiet trails, and the changing seasons, inspiring ideas began to flow. Whenever a thought came to him, he captured it in the Notes app on his phone.
One note became ten. Ten became hundreds. Hundreds became thousands.
Year after year, he faithfully recorded these insights without knowing why. There was no publishing company, no collection of books waiting to be written—only a quiet conviction that these ideas were worth preserving.
By the end of 2025, David had accumulated more than 19,000 inspirational thoughts and ideas.
Then everything changed.
In January 2026, David's son introduced him to artificial intelligence. AI didn't create the ideas—it helped organize them, connect them, clarify them, and transform thousands of notes into complete manuscripts, books, and educational resources.
For the first time, David saw what had been unfolding all along.
Those notes were never random. They were seeds waiting for the right season.
From that realization, Hidden Oak Publishing was born with one mission: to educate, inspire, and heal by expressing great ideas from the inside out.
Like the mighty oak hidden inside every acorn, extraordinary potential often lies hidden within each of us, waiting for the right moment to emerge.
Looking back, it's clear that no walk was wasted, no note was insignificant, and no season was without purpose.
Sometimes what appears to be an interruption is actually an invitation to discover the work you were meant to do all along.
